How do you get along with your body? Do you accept yourself as you are? Do you smile when you look in the mirror? Unfortunately, not everyone feels comfortable with themselves and their body. And we women are in the middle of it all. Precisely to balance that balance is the birth of body positive.
Want to know more?
For some time now, there has been talk of this movement in favor of body acceptance. acceptance of one's own body. However, not all women apply it yet, perhaps because they do not know enough about it.
That's why today I want to talk to you about body positive and why I think it is so important for us.
What is the body positiveor body positive
If you've heard of body positive you probably associate it with images of curvy women posing happily with their bodies.
Tired of always seeing pictures of very thin and perfect models according to the standard imposed by fashion, many women rebelled and began to show less normative but equally perfect bodies. less normative but just as perfect bodies.
And I don't just mean weight. I also include any trait that at one time was considered a defect and is now is now shown with acceptance and pride: cellulite, stretch marks, scars....
Is there something to hide? That's what body positive. From women who accept themselves and don't flagellate themselves because they don't fit the standards imposed by fashion or advertising.
What does body positive
It cannot be said that the movement is something new. Self-acceptance is an idea that has been around in feminism since the 1960s, but like many other terms, it has also been popularized by the internet and social media. popularized thanks to the internet and social networks.
For me, it is part of a global global women's empowerment movement. What has changed for women because of this movement? Things like this:
- We do not judge ourselves nor do we want to feel judged.
- We put our self-esteem above other issues.
- We value inclusiveness as opposed to the exclusivity imposed by the aesthetic industry.
The body positive has been a huge leap forward because it because it makes different bodies visible.
So to come out of the "dark zone" and start appearing in magazines, catalogs and catwalks was at the time a bombshell. Suddenly, magazines started calling models curvy models for their covers.
Today it is more normalized, fortunately, and the trend is the natural look. the trend is the natural look.
Every day more and more women accept their gray hair, their "orange peel" and their acne. And beyond, the body positive also embraces different abilities, race, gender or any other factor that influences how we perceive our bodies. influences how we perceive our bodies.
Rejecting beauty standards makes us value ourselves value ourselves as we are and feel better. It is a break to stop fighting to try to fit into an imposed canon of beauty.
But I don't think it's all done. Far from it.
I think we still have a long way to go a long way to go, and that is why I wanted to write this post today.
Start to love yourself (or love yourself even more): be body positive
For me, the starting point is to assume that "normal bodies" do not exist. To admit this is also to admit that there are other bodies that do not fit into this "normality".
This distinction is very harmful, because it it establishes an ideal of what is right, good or beautiful. What we should all aspire to.
And that is simply not possible.
There are women who naturally wear a size 38 and there are others who will never wear it because their physical constitution is different.
Neither better nor worse. Other.
Therefore, pursuing goals like that makes no sense and only generates dissatisfaction with one's own body and frustration. discontent with one's own body and frustration.
Sweeping away these ideas is the basis of body positive and the beginning of a more fulfilling life, without the stress of having to reach having to reach aesthetic goals that we will never reach.
That doesn't mean that we don't take care of ourselves. pamper ourselves inside and out.
That includes eating healthy (do you want to read what I think about realfoodingrealfooding?), exercising, buying clothes that make us feel good, and that make us feel good, putting on makeup when we feel like it...
And, of course, to wear the jewelry with which we feel most attractive on all occasions (even underwater! in all occasions (even under water!), with waterproof jewelry waterproof jewelry to wear at all times).
But not because we pursue an ideal, but for the pleasure of feeling at ease with ourselves.
Wear the body positive beyond: be positive in all aspects of your life.
The positive mentality and the inclination to see the bright side of thingsconditions the way we live.
At least, that's what I believe. I am very convinced that that keeping a positive attitude towards anything that happens to us in life is what makes the in life is the factor that makes the difference.
Why do I say this? Because positivity predisposes the mind to find solutions and helps to see the good even in the worst circumstances. and helps to see the good even in the worst circumstances.
And now, tell me, are you also a supporter of the movement? body positiveDo you trust a positive attitude helps you cope better with everyday life? I would love for you to share your ideas, can you tell me about them?
