Music and nature in Barcelona: Jardins de Pedralbes Festival

Música y naturaleza en Barcelona: Festival Jardins de Pedralbes

Days off in July? I have made room in the agenda to go to Barcelona and enjoy two things that I love, together and separately: live music and the open air. Where? At the Pedralbes Gardens Festival.

Right in the center of the city and with a program of activities so you can set it up however you want: from large concerts to more intimate performances scattered around the gardens.

I don't know about you, but listening to good music while having a quiet dinner or having a drink on one of the terraces seems like a fantastic plan to me. And then I'm ready to give my favorite musicians my full attention at concerts in the auditorium.

I'll tell you in case you want to sign up.

Jardins de Pedralbes Festival: many events in one

Unfortunately, the 2020 edition was not held for obvious reasons, but the festival has made a strong comeback and we must take advantage of it.

To begin with, I have to tell you about the environment. If you have never been to the Pedralbes gardens, you need to know that the place is a spectacle in itself and that it is worth visiting simply to take a walk.

Realize that, in the middle of the city and in the middle of July (you can get an idea of how hot it can be), this urban park that borders Avenida Diagonal is an oasis.

But it is that the Festival program adds much more. To summarize, I will tell you that you can make two types of plans, and both are wonderful. Everything is according to what you want. I tell you.

The Festival: concerts on summer nights

The most important concerts are held in the auditorium, which is located in front of the palace façade.

It is a wide space, an amphitheater with differentiated areas and capacity for about 2000 people seated in seats.

In June, I missed Vanesa Martín, Alvaro Soler, Salvador Sobral or Miguel Poveda (and more that I won't tell you), but no problem, we still have the July program and it comes loaded with artists.

To give you an idea, the performances are at the level of Nathy Peluso, Carlos Rivera, Sergio Dalma, Rozalén, Amaia, Alan Parsons, Sidonie... There is also classical music, ballet and musicals.

Better yet, take a look yourself at the concert program for the month of July. You can imagine that the decision is difficult…

The concerts start at ten at night: good music, good temperatures, a calm atmosphere... Is there a better way to celebrate summer?

The Village: to make yourself comfortable

Although the concerts are the center of the festival, the rest are not to be missed. And it is that the gardens are a very wide space and there are different areas to celebrate events.

You can spend a few hours listening to music in what the organization calls the Village, an area in the central part of the gardens where performances and restaurants are combined.

In other words, watch a live show while you have a quiet drink, with tables and seats distributed among the trees. As you can imagine, the atmosphere is very different, more relaxed and intimate.

You have two options.

  • One is the Seat Mó stage (yes, it is sponsored, here you can see the program ). Here, for only 7 euros (which includes a drink) you can spend the afternoon listening to emerging bands and start warming up for the evening concert.
  • The other possibility is the Alhambra Moments ( as you can see, also sponsored and with its own programming ). The same, 7 euros and a drink. A point in favor is that they are stages very close to the public, to enjoy the show without distances.

And what else does the Village offer you?

Well, something, for me, very attractive, which is the possibility of dining on the terraces.

To give you an idea: there are tents with different proposals, depending on what you want, sweet or salty. Do you want something simple or more elaborate? Traditional or exotic?

Choose between different proposals. Everything is fine with me. I'll have to think about whether to decide on a night of sushi with @makitogo_.

Or some Argentine empanadas from @lapizzadelborn with an ice cold beer.

And a sweet end to the day, of course, there is always something good in the @sauleda_patisseria workshop.

I am sure that it will be a day to relax and enjoy. Good music, delicious food and an environment cared for down to the last detail.

It's the summer nights that stay with me. Not to you?

If you are still looking for plans for the month of July, I hope I have inspired you. And if you can't, write it down for next year. The Jardins de Pedralbes Festival is an event that is worth knowing, at least once (because you will repeat, like me).

Did you know him? Tell me what you thought and if you already have it in your plans for this summer.
