I know that you love to compose your own earlooks with different earrings, but did you know that, depending on where you pierce, there are many types of ear piercing ? How many types of piercing do you know?
You already know that multi -piercing is a trend and since you (just like me) love to design original earlooks with personality, I am going to tell you things that you may not know about the anatomy of ears.
And also that there are different types of piercing depending on where in the ear you pierce.
If you want to know more, to get even more out of your outfits, keep reading because I'm going to tell you a lot of things I've learned about ears.
Types of piercing to show off some very top earlook
All ears are different and unique. Although the anatomy is similar, they have characteristics that differentiate them. Even so, you know that you can go further and give them your own style.
Thanks to piercings you can create different designs, according to your personality or according to the day. The point is that your ears reflect who you are and what your style is.
Also remember that if you don't want to pierce you don't have to give up creating fantastic earlooks , but then I recommend you read this post: Earcuffs, an adapted classic .
And now, shall we review the types of piercing ? Maybe it gives you some new idea and when you finish reading, you get one more hole in your ears!
1. Lobe and upper lobe
These are the most common piercings , especially since the lobe earring is what we used to get when we were babies, so many of us have it by default.
The earlobe is the lower part, fleshy and rounded . Some people have it attached to the face and others separated. It doesn't really matter, it's just a genetic quirk (have you noticed what your parents' ears are like?).
In the lobe we usually wear the largest earrings, and it is also where we like symmetry the most: it is quite common to wear two identical earrings in both lobes.

Although there are really no rules. You can wear different earrings as long as the total composition is balanced and… you like it!, which is, after all, the most important thing.
The part known as the upper lobe is located just above the lobe, and is also fleshy. In that area you can make several holes, there is enough space.
2. Helix and counterhelix
The helix is the edge of the ear, the outer cartilage that runs along the side and reaches the top, where we speak of the counterhelix. It's an area with few nerves, so piercing it is somewhat annoying, but it doesn't hurt too much.
The best? By bordering the entire ear, it is a wide area that admits many piercings. How many are recommended? There is no number, which you admit without damaging the structure of the auditory pavilion.
However, to give you a hint, three is a reasonable number.
The counterhelix also admits piercings , so consider completing your earlook perhaps with some small earrings in that area.

3. Antihelix, rook and daith piercing
Let's go into detail and distinguish more parts of the ear:
- Antihelix or forward helix: refers to the part of the cartilage that is already located in the inner part of the ear and attached to the face. It must be professionally drilled, as it is a hard-to-reach area.
- Internal helix or daith piercing : another difficult piercing, in the central part of the ear, but very original and with many aesthetic possibilities if you can do it with guarantees.
- Rook or tower: in the inner cartilage of the ear, located in the upper part of the ear. Piercing that area is more painful, since the cartilage is thicker.
As a curiosity, I am going to tell you that it is said that the daith works very well against migraines, because it perforates the same place that traditional acupuncture uses to treat this ailment.
That is true? It has not been proven, and of course you cannot take it as a therapeutic solution. If you have a problem with your headaches, you should always see a doctor.
4. Tragus and antitragus
We are now going to the part of the cartilage that is attached to the face and gives access to the ear. The tragus piercing is one of the most demanded.

Just opposite, also marking the entrance to the ear, is the antitragus. If you can do both, tiny hoops and earrings with simple shapes will look great.
There are more areas in the ear that can be pierced (don't you think your ears had so many possibilities!).
If we go inwards, in the flat part (flat), located under the helix and in the upper part of the ear, you can place piercings . There is also the conch , at the top of the antitragus…
I would like you to keep in mind that since all ears are different, certain ears cannot be pierced with some , because there is no angle to pierce safely.
It's okay, there are many possibilities anyway, and you always have to ensure that your ears are healthy (the most important thing) and with a balanced piercing design .
Have I given you some ideas? Are you going to add any more piercing to your earlook after reading this post? I am passionate about multipiercing , so "I am all ears" for any idea that you want to tell me.
